Blenheim is the commercial centre of Marlborough and one of
New Zealand's sunniest towns.
Situated on the Wairau Plain, 27km south from the Picton inter-island ferry
terminals, it serves a population of 27,900 and has a range of cafes and restaurants, a
busy shopping centre, art galleries and attractive parks and gardens. A museum park takes
visitors back to colonial days of early "Beavertown" with replica buildings and
vintage machinery.
The new Riverside Park near the town centre draws people to the Taylor River and pathways
beside it are accessible to pedestrians, cyclists, wheelchairs and prams.
