Queen Charlotte Sound, Kenepuru Sound and the Pelorus Sound are the three
ancient, sunken valleys that make up the Marlborough Sounds. Secluded beaches, virgin
forest and native bush are a feature of the 1500km of coastline.
Taste the tranquillity in a cruise boat, hiring a kayak, taking a water-ski or diving.
Alternatively, go fishing, swim or stay on shore and walk or mountain bike along a scenic
track. Wind your way through unspoiled native flora and look out for the bird and sea life
living in the sounds. Among the native wildlife are albatross, little blue penguins,
dolphins, seals, shags and terns.
